A Note To Our Fellow Adventurers
At RZE we've always believed the best stories of our watches are told by real users and adventurers in the field. In 2026, as we continue our story, we are dedicated to showcasing some of your stories in our Adventure Logs.
For the debut of the Resolute Type A, we worked with our long time friend and professional adventurer Sam, to help capture the vibe of the Type A for the campaign. This 'Adventure Log' gives our readers a look in the bag and behind the lens of how adventure content is captured and created.
Sam Delaware is based in Los Angeles, California, directing and shooting for Sigma America, where his work puts high-performance optics through real-world use across commercial, editorial, and adventure-driven assignments.
As a former in-house producer at HiConsumption, he covered wristwatches from major manufacturers and independent makers alike, building a working familiarity with mechanical systems and design driven by function.
We appreciate you joining us for the ride and look forward to sharing more great stories and hope our watches will travel with you on all your adventures.

RZE Watches, Resolute Type A
LAX, Los Angeles, California

LAX is laid out east to west in a horse-shoe shape, each terminal flows seamlessly into the next making it entirely possible to begin at Terminal 1 (east) and end up at Terminal 8 (east) without any risk of misdirection. That layout is apt for guerrilla shoots - i.e. no permits.

Apt as it may be, a functional airport doesn’t offer any control. No locked-off areas, constant foot traffic, security. On that last note, moving through terminals with any rig larger than an iPhone requires discretion. So, we built our kits as compactly as possible and our skeleton crew spread out instead of moving as a single unit. Frames were built quickly and wrapped just as fast.

Pre-production carried more weight with a location that offered no control. Shot lists were tighter but left room for happenstance and gear was reduced to what could be carried and deployed immediately. Timing and positioning mattered more, as did the position of the sun (time of day) and conditions (weather).

The Type A set the direction, referencing a bold, highly legible design and the utility of early Type A Fliegers. Wardrobe followed a similar approach with classic, rugged pieces. Aether’s Pacer Bomber supported the approach maintaining ample military heritage at baseline. Like RZE’s Type A, it was designed and adapted for modern use and fabricated for life outside a cockpit. All to say that the end user needed to factor in early: what he or she would wear, what they would carry, and how they would move. Pioneer Carry, Aether, Buck Mason, Levi’s… created a persona from scratch.

LAX is built with large swaths of glass and steel allowing the light to reach through the terminals in long strips, bouncing off polished floors and aluminum panels. High midday sun pushed through the windows and created hard reflections across the concourses with high-contrast pockets of light. The surfaces became part of the composition, as did the movement of the background - rolling luggage, taxis, departures boards flipping, travelers passing through the frame at different distances.

Observed and worked doc-style, tracked movement, light, colors, texture, waited for opportunities, reflections, shadows. Gates emptied quickly after boarding calls. Corridors opened for a few minutes at a time before the next wave of passengers arrived.

The windows were short but became predictable and repetitive giving second chances for certain compositions. Worked in the gaps when space opened and stepped back when traffic returned. Checked the boxes on the shot list, moved on quickly and kept an open mind to opportunities that presented themselves organically.
Uncontrolled, reactive, and built in real time.
