PROJECT FOREST X RZE

TOGETHER, LET'S REWILD CANADA

In RZE's pursuit of being carbon negative, we have developed a partnership with Project Forest whose mission is to capture carbon in the most efficient way possible - by rewilding Canada’s backyards. Project Forest doesn’t just plant trees, they’re planting forests. Turning non-productive agricultural land into thriving, biodiverse forests that will benefit communities for generations to come is a mission we can get behind.

Collectively, the members of Project Forest’s board have planted more than 2 BILLION trees. Inspired by Project Forest’s mission and vision, we are committed to do our part to help plant new forest, improve the air and water, support animal habitat and create natural playgrounds for future generations.

FOOD AND MEDICINE FOREST

Not seeing the forest for the trees is what has resulted in devastating impacts on the environment and on communities. Project Forest works together with Indigenous communities to restore traditional land use by helping reestablish food bearing and culturally significant plants.

Alongside Indigenous leaders and community members on Cumberland House Cree Nation, Project Forest has been planting a Food and Medicine Forest, helping reintroducing food-bearing and medicinal plants and re-establishing food sovereignty with species including saskatoon, raspberry, wild rose, strawberry, common blueberry, honeysuckle, western mountain ash and more!

Help make a direct impact

By supporting the planting of a Food and Medicine Forest in the heart of Cumberland House Cree Nation, RZE and Project Forest are helping provide a number of benefits to the community including:

LOCAL FOOD
Sustainable access to an established local food source able to feed community members with high quality and nutritious food.

TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE
Opportunities to re-establish traditional knowledge around food gathering and land-use.

IMPROVED ENVIRONMENT
Cleaner air and water, improved soil, greenspace and increased habitat for insects and animals.

ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE
Access to ongoing food-based economic opportunities and employment opportunities in the project establishment phase.

One tree at a time

Every order we ship from RZE is always carbon neutral and during Earth Month (April), we're partnering with Project Forest to plant a tree or shrub for every product sold on Cumberland House Cree Nation in their Food and Medicine Forest.

Each adventurer who places an order in April will receive a patch with their order representing a tree planted. Together, we are #assembledforadventure and we can help rewild Canada.
