The Grey NATO x RZE

At Twilight Cafe North York, just minutes away from the Toronto Timepiece Show. On Saturday, September 26, from 2-4 PM, alongside our friends from The Grey NATO, we will be hosting our third Gear Swap. We'll be bringing along some of our latest collections and a sneak peek at some upcoming pieces, and we're inviting you to bring some of your everyday carry to share (and maybe swap) with the community.

RSVP below, bring the watches, camera gear, EDC, outdoor equipment, bags, and accessories you're ready to pass on—and discover something new from fellow enthusiasts.

The golden rule for the Gear Swap is: If you can’t carry it, don’t bring it.

That rule applies to quantity as well as forces honesty. The swap is first and foremost for our community to hang out, share our interests, see different EDC's. If you're vibe checking your items, remember that your items should meet your quality standards, but rarely ends up getting used. Come with a value in mind for your items but the intent to let them go. When you find yourself working on a trade, remember the idea is to Swap It Forward, not get the best deal.

A few things I'm brought to the swap in Vancouver

Levi's Commuter Jacket

Everyone needs at least one good jean jacket and as a proud Canadian, I have several. Despite being at least ten years old, this Commuter Pro is reinforced with Cordura, has a hideaway hood, 3M reflectors, and is exceptionally comfortable. While it's no longer something I reach for, it's still got plenty of life in it.

Condition: 8.5/10
Estimated Value: $60–80
Why it fits: Great, difficult to find features. Might not be something I'd sell, but I'd want it to go to someone who will appreciate it.

WANDRD PRVKE

This weather-resistant rolltop backpack is a great backpack for a photographer. It has a detachable accessory pouch along with a bunch of easy access features. While it's a great bag, I'm more comfortable using another camera bag I've had for years, and the rolltop is just something I can't get used to.

Condition: 7.5/10
Estimated Value: ~$120
Why it fits: It can hold everything I brought to the swap. Capable of standing up to real adventure use. Note: Wear and tear on this bag is from the shoot for the Aspirare campaign.

Civivi Clingman

Knives are a category of EDC, that like watches, despite not needing another one, we're often inclined to buy another. I didn't buy this one for brand, blade shape, or blade shape but on story alone. Designed by Taylor Martin and beautifully documented in this video, I purchased this one to show my support for Taylor's first knife design along with his work with Rikki to tell its story.

Condition: 9/10
Estimated Value: ~$80
Why it fits: A knife is essential in an EDC kit. I connected with it because of its design story, but it would be better if it developed a story of its own.
